The Securitas depot robbery

The largest cash robbery in British history went down in 2006 at a security services company’s warehouse in Kent. An insider filmed the interior of the Securitas depot in preparation. Then, men clad in elaborate masks kidnapped the branch manager and held his family hostage. The robbers took him to the warehouse and forced him to give them access to the cash cages. The crew stole about 83 million. Despite their clever disguises, some of the robbers were caught, and the makeup artist who designed the masks became a key witness in the case.

The Knightsbridge Security Deposit robbery

Valerio Viccei, who was already wanted for more than 50 armed robberies in Italy, almost committed the perfect crime in London in 1987. He and an assistant walked into a bank and asked to rent a safe deposit box. When the men were shown to the vault, they pulled out guns and overpowered the bank manager and guards. After putting a "closed" sign on a bank door, they let in some friends, broke into as many safe deposit boxes as possible, and made off with millions in cash and valuables. Viccei fled to South America but was eventually arrested when he returned to England to ship his Ferrari to his new home.

The Dar Es Salaam Bank heist

To this day, few details are known about the 2007 robbery at Dar es Salaam Bank, a private financial institution in Baghdad, Iraq. It’s unclear why the bank had so much American cash on hand to steal. Allegedly, the theft was orchestrated by several bank guards. The government suspected the robbers also had contacts within local police and militias that allowed them to pass through the many checkpoints across Baghdad undetected. No further information has been released about the whereabouts of the money or those responsible.

Most of the cash was recovered in the ensuing raids  but it doesn’t end here. Tasked

with counting the illicit loot, American soldiers made off with hundreds of thousands

of dollars for themselves and their families. Thirty-five service members were caught.

SRILANKAN CIVIL WAR

The Sri Lankan Civil War is the civil war that took place in Sri Lanka from 1983 to 2009. Since 23 July  1983, there have been intermittent riots against the Tamil Tiger government by the  Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (
also known as the LTTE), led by Velupillai Prabhakaran. Due to continued discrimination and violent persecution of Sri Lankan Tamils by the Sinhalese-dominated government of Sri Lanka, the LTTE fought to create an independent Tamil state called Tamil Eelam in the northeast of the island.    Violent persecution of Tamils erupted in the form of anti-Tamil pogroms in 1956, 1958, 1977, 1981, 1983 and  the 1981  Jaffna public library fire. These were carried out  in the years after Sri Lanka gained independence from the British Empire in 1948 by a majority Sinhalese mob, often with state support. Shortly after  independence, Sinhalese was recognized as the only official language of the country. After 26 years of military operations, the Sri Lankan army militarily defeated the Tamil Tigers in her May 2009, ending the civil war.   Up to 70,000 people died by 2007. On May 20, 2009, shortly after the war ended, the United Nations estimated the total death toll to be between 80,000 and 100,000. However, in 2011, regarding the final stages of the civil war in 2009, the report of the Secretary-General's Panel of Experts on Accountability in Sri Lanka stated:

Koneswara Temple

The original kovil combined key features to form its basic Dravidian temple plan, such as its thousand-pillared hall—"Aayiram Kaal Mandapam"—and the Jagati. Regarded as the greatest building of its age for its architecture, elaborate sculptural bas-relief ornamentation adorned a black granite megalith, while its multiple gold-plated gopuram towers were expanded in the medieval period. It was one of three major Hindu shrines on the promontory, and it stood prominently on the cape's highest eminence, with a colossal gopuram tower.

The journey for pilgrims in the town begins at the opening of Konesar Road and follows a path through courtyard shrines of the compound to the deities Bhadrakali, Ganesh, Vishnu Thirumal, Surya, Raavana, Ambal-Shakti, Murukan, and Shiva, who preside at the promontory's height. The annual Koneswaram Temple Ther Thiruvilah festival involves the Bhadrakali temple of Trincomalee, the Pavanasam Theertham at the preserved Papanasuchunai holy well, and the proximal Back Bay Sea surrounding Konesar Malai.

Nallur Kandaswamy temple

The original Kandaswamy Temple was founded in 948 A.D. According to the Yalpana Vaipava Malai, the temple was developed at the site in the 13th century by Buwanika Bahu, a minister to the King of Kotte. Sapumal Kumaraya, who ruled the Jaffna kingdom on behalf of the Kotte kingdom, is credited with building the third Nallur Kandaswamy temple. Nallur served as the capital of the Jaffna kings, with the royal palace situated very close to the temple. Nallur was built with four entrances with gates. There were two main roadways and four temples at the four gateways. The present rebuilt temple that exists now does not match their original locations, which instead are occupied by churches erected by the Portuguese. The center of the city was Muthirai Santhai, which was surrounded by a square fortification. There were courtly buildings for the kings, Brahmin priests, soldiers, and other service providers. The old Kandaswamy temple functioned as a defensive fort with high walls. In general, the city was laid out like a traditional temple town according to Hindu traditions. Cankilian Thoppu, the facade of the palace of King Cankili II, can still be found in Nallur.

Jaffna Fort

Jaffna Fort is a fort built by the Portuguese at JaffnaSri Lanka, in 1618 under Phillippe de Oliveira following the Portuguese invasion of Jaffna. The fort is located near the coastal village of Gurunagar. Because of the numerous miracles attributed to the Virgin Mary statue in the nearby church, the fortress was named the Fortress of Our Lady of Miracles of Jafanapato. It was captured by the Dutch under Rijcklof van Goens in 1658, who expanded it. In 1795, it was taken over by the British and remained under the control of a British garrison till 1948. As the only large military fort in the country, due to the presence of only government and military buildings within its ramparts, it was garrisoned by a detachment of the Ceylon Army. With the onset of the Sri Lankan Civil War, it came under siege on several occasions and was the scene of pitched battles. From 1985 to 1995, it was under the control of the LTTE. During this time, the LTTE destroyed several key features to prevent the Army from taking control due to the site being used to stage attacks. However, it was recaptured by the Sri Lankan Army in 1995 after a 50-day siege during Operation Riviresa.

TIME IS PRECIOUS

Time is the continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, and into the future. It is a component quantity of various measurements used to sequence events, compare the duration of events or the intervals between them, and quantify rates of change of quantities in material reality or in conscious experience. Time is often referred to as a fourth dimension, along with three spatial dimensions.

Time has long been an important subject of study in religion, philosophy, and science, but defining it in a manner applicable to all fields without circularity has consistently eluded scholars. Nevertheless, diverse fields such as business, industry, sports, the sciences, and the performing arts all incorporate some notion of time into their respective measuring systems.
